Have you ever wished you had a magical kitchen in your home, where delicious and healthy food could be prepared instantly, without spending much effort in preparation? Maybe you are working in the office with a busy schedule and tight deadlines, or maybe you are a stay-at- home person tending to your family. We live in a busy world, where everything needs to be done instantly and time is a precious and limited commodity. For all of you busy people out there… I feel you.
My life has changed A LOT since I started working in a corporate office. After spending long hours in the office – up to 100 hours per week – I dreamed of the day that I could walk into my home after a busy day at work and smell dinner already cooking. I know, I know, it’s sounds like wishful thinking. But I tried to make it real by picking up my cooking pans and whisking together comfort foods, because after all the chaos (and drama) during the day, cooking is the only thing I enjoy most in a day’s work.
So I always look for something fresh, quick, and comforting after a hard day at the office. There are so many times when I wish I could just stay at home, put on my stretchy pants, and enjoy creating and eating good old homemade dishes while relaxing with my hubby. Because, although I am very grateful for all the things in my life, my work, my family, my busy schedule and all… one thing still stays the same: I really love to cook and share my cooking. Now, I just get to do it on a much broader spectrum… and I feel extremely lucky for that.
Cooking is not a genetically inherited skill. Just because your mom or your grandma is a good cook, doesn’t mean that you will be one. Cooking is something that you need to learn – just like other things in life. I am a self-taught cook and the recipes I set out to make are very simple. If you’re new to cooking, I’d like to help you get over the fear factor and bump up the fun factor, because for me, cooking is enjoyable. You could tweak a recipe here and there and try out various ingredients without worrying that the recipe police will come and run over your way
I am a chocoholic living life in San Francisco. Everyone has a food story and I did not give serious thought to cooking until I moved to the U.S. and became a frugal student. Short of cash but nonetheless hungry and haunted by the tastes of both home cooking and restaurant dishes, I began to try my own hand at cooking. Cooking my own food was much cheaper than buying it and I was able to eat dishes that were comforting and suited for my taste. To my delight, I found out that I was quite adept at it. One dish led to another, and soon I found that I had become an enthusiastic chef, cooking with zest and satisfying not only my own palate but others! Looking back, I now realize that this was the time when I started a connection with my taste buds. Living far away from my mom has opened up a world of new cuisines which eventually led me to working on this collection of recipes on my blog.
