Tuna Fried Rice Recipe with Kimchi’s Tempting Flavors

Kimchi is always a good idea to match with almost every meal, especially if you like sour, spicy, and tangy dishes. This time we will use kimchi as a condiment to boost the flavor of your tuna fried rice. It makes a perfect pair with the umami of canned tuna and gives a pleasant acidity to your mouth. Within 15 minutes, you will make a flavorful tuna kimchi fried rice just by sautéing, stirring, and seasoning.

Tuna Fried Rice with Kimchi Recipe


  • 2 cups of kimchi, the longer fermented kimchi is highly recommended (buy here)
  • 250 gram of canned tuna (buy here)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of gochujang (buy here)
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 4 cups of left over rice, for a crumbly and dry texture
  • Sunny side-up fried egg
  • Scallion, thinly sliced
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Roasted seaweeds (buy here)
  • 1 tablespoon of cooking oil


  1. In a bowl, cut kimchi into medium size with scissors. Set it aside with the juice
  2. Open your tuna can and separate the tuna from the water if you use water-based canned tuna for your kimchi tuna fried rice
  3. Heat your skillet over medium heat and add cooking oil. Sauté the garlic until slightly brown, add kimchi and the juices, and sauté again until the kimchi becomes dry
  4. Add tuna and stir them through for a few minutes
  5. Season them with soy sauce, sugar, and gochujang and stir again
  6. Add rice and stir. You can use the back of your spatula occasionally to crush any clumpy rice. Cook your tuna fried rice until thoroughly combined
  7. Serve in a plate or bowl and top with the sunny side-up fried egg, scallion slices, roasted seaweeds, and sesame seeds
