Make sure to follow this direction step by step to create best mashed potatoes of Gordon Ramsay
- Peel Yukon gold potatoes. But don’t rinse under lots of water, in order to get the starch. The starch will give the depth and richness of the mashed potato.
- Slice down the potatoes, across and into four, cut them into small dices.
- Place the potatoes in a saucepan, add enough water to cover the potatoes. Always start to cook the potatoes in cold water, because if you start them in hot water, it creates sort of unwanted furnace on the texture of the potato on the outside.
- Sprinkle 1 tablespoon salt
- Bring to a boil. Turn heat to medium-low. Simmer in 7-8 minutes

- Add the heavy cream, nutmeg, leaf, garlic cloves, salt, thyme, and pepper to saucepan. Then boil.
- Season that cream, and reduce it down for 3 minutes, to create the essence of mashed potatoes that will give richness.
- Get it pass through a sieve, strain the cream through. Take the back of your spoon and run the cooked garlic through that sieve.
- After the potatoes are ready, drain them.
- Cover the potatoes. Bring to medium heat. Steam in 1-2 minutes. The more fluffier these potatoes, the more lighter and creamier they’re gonna taste.

- Put the potatoes into potato ricer, press and push into a mixing bowl. The hotter the potatoes, the lighter and fluffier the texture will be.
- Fold cream into potatoes in thirds. Then add unsalted butter and scallions.
- Mix them till the texture gets so fluffy, and your fragrant mashed potato is ready to enjoy.
